# Family Woodland Mindfulness Session

**A Calm, Connected Experience in Nature for Families**

A relaxed, nature-based wellbeing session for parents/carers and children to connect—with themselves, each other, and the natural world—through simple, mindful activities. Designed to nurture family bonds, emotional regulation, and shared calm in a peaceful outdoor setting.

### This offering provides a gentle, screen-free space for families to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with one another. It introduces accessible mindfulness and grounding practices that are supportive for both adults and children, helping to nurture calm parenting through emotional regulation and shared presence. By fostering deeper connection with the natural world, it also supports mental and emotional wellbeing across all ages, creating space for stillness, resilience, and joy.

- **Length**: 60 minutes

- **Group Size**: Up to 10 families

- **Ages**: Suitable for a wide range of ages, with activities adapted to meet diverse needs

### Session Elements May Include:

- **Nature-based grounding** (e.g. mindful walking, listening, observing)

- **Sensory exploration & breathwork** for children and adults

- **Mindful games** that promote attention, patience, and connection

- **Creative reflection** (e.g. nature mandalas, journaling, storytelling)

- **Time for calm family connection** — no pressure, no rush

- **Nature education** — opportunities to learn about and respect the woodland environment

What’s Provided:

- Full session facilitation by a qualified mindfulness teacher with experience in family wellbeing, child development, and trauma-sensitive practice

- All materials and resources (e.g. mindfulness props, printed handouts)

- Risk assessment, insurance, and safeguarding measures in place

### Location: Foundry Wood

A peaceful green triangle tucked between railway lines and Princes Drive, with a single entrance/exit on Princes Drive.

**Access:**

- The woodland path begins with a steep incline, supported by a zig-zag path and handrail for easier access

- Benches available midway and at the top for resting

- Once at the top, the main paths are wide and level

**Transport & Parking:**

- No parking inside the woodland

- Nearest free car park: *Victoria Park* (across the road, can be busy during events)

- Bike shelter available at the entrance—walking or cycling is encouraged

### 🌿 Ground Rules for a Peaceful Experience

👨‍👩‍👧 **Parent/Carer Responsibility**\
You are responsible for supervising your child(ren) at all times.

🌳 **Movement is Welcome**\
Children are free to explore. Stillness is not expected—but please help us avoid disrupting other families’ experiences.

🌼 **Respect for Others**\
Let’s be mindful of shared space. Joy is welcome—so is consideration.

🧘 **Gentle Togetherness**\
This is a calm, nurturing session. Participate however feels right for your family.

### 🚫 Site Guidelines

- Dogs must be kept on a lead to protect wildlife

- Please take any waste home with you

- No fires, BBQs, or vehicles allowed

- Compost toilet available on site

Family Woodland Mindfulness Session 

What are the ages of the children attending? 

Do any of the people coming have any access needs or health conditions I should be aware of? 

Any allergies or things we need to be careful about?

Do any of the people coming have any additional needs?  I will ensure that activities are accessible for them so please let me know :) 

A warm and friendly group where we spend an hour participating in a few mindfulness meditations- both seated and lying. 

An hour away from your busy lives to really focus and practice mindfulness meditation. 

A lovely yoga studio setting, mats and blankets can be provided or choose to bring your own along.

Amazed at how the one hour session I attended positively altered my mood and outlook for weeks to follow! I left optimistic, inspired, grateful and with better insight than when I walked in.

Unburdened by the mindfulness activities, they helped me to release a lot of stress and pressure I seemed to be carrying. Afterwards I felt like I’d been given a new lease of life, ready to seize the day!

Next I plan to try Warwickshire Mindfulness online classes (as I live too far away to attend sessions in-person on a regular basis).

This was my first experience of a mindfulness session. As someone who has a brain that never stops, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to fully switch off, forget my ‘to do list’ and put my toddler and baby stress to the back of my mind. 

After half an hour, I almost forgot I had children (almost). I was SO relaxed. 

Charlotte is amazing! She gave me time to think, reflecting on what my values were, share my thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental safe space and have some guilt-free ‘me time’.
